Jim Buivid operates Buivid PhotoDesign in Grafton, Wisconsin offering senior and family portraits, weddings, commercial photography and design services. He has a Master of Electronic Imaging and Craftsman Degree as well as CPP and CPP-EI certification. He enjoys teaching seminars and multi-day programs on digital imaging. Jim worked eight years at the Milwaukee Art Museum as Associate Curator of Education. He produced
2-to-15 projector multi-image shows and video programs for museum exhibitions. As Associate Curator of Education he handled visual productions for in-house and traveling exhibition and assisted visiting artists during presentations. Jim graduated from the University of WI-Green Bay with a BFA.
Jim received the first Kodak GALLERY AWARD in the nation for his digital image “Field of Dreams” in 1994 and has won numerous other awards throughout the years.
His BEST OF SHOW–EI image “Moonlight” graced the cover of PPA’s 1995 Winona International School of Photography catalog. His BEST OF SHOW–EI image “Media Madness” won the Specular International summer design contest in 1996.
He is Past President of the SEWPPA (Southeastern WI Professional Photographers Association) and was a charter Board member of the Association For Multi-Image – Milwaukee. Jim is Past President of the WPPA (WI Professional Photographers Association) and continues to serve today. He received his Associate Fellowship Award in 1997 and Fellowship in 1998.
As editor of the WISCONSIN PHOTOGRAPHER for the WPPA he won “1st Place” in the PPA National Newsletter Design Contest in1996. He designed the logo for the 100th Anniversary of the Wisconsin Professional Photographers Association and the SEWPPA gave him a “SPECIAL APPRECIATION” award for creation of their logo and re-design of their newsletter FOCUS ON EXCELLECE.
Jim taught classes at Concordia University for over 15 years and professional classes for photographers. He’s given numerous programs for regional and state associations and was a featured speaker at several four day CREATIVE EDGE seminars in Madison, Wisconsin. He has conducted numerous four days classes at Treehaven Professional Photography School in Wisconsin.
“Digital Imaging for Photographers.” He has produced two DVD sets of “Creative Image Backgrounds.” He recently completed “Power Projects for Photoshop,” a series of over 130 projects designed to propel photographers to the next level in creative digital design. His newest DVD projects include: “Overlays: Textures and Backgrounds” and “HotSHOTS: a Marketing Campaign” and “Creative Photo-Product Design.”
